As the lead designer on the Bart Ingredients project, I was responsible for crafting a bespoke Shopify store that captured the bold, immersive identity of the brand and reflected the richness of its herb and spice range. Bart Ingredients, a staple in UK supermarkets, needed a digital presence that could showcase their extensive SKU catalogue while offering an engaging and intuitive user experience. I focused on delivering a visually striking design that balanced drama with usability—bringing their products to life through thoughtful layout, rich imagery, and seamless navigation. Built on the Shopify platform, the store empowers the Bart team with full control and access to a robust ecosystem of features to support ongoing growth and flexibility.

Adaptable design to maximize on-site engagement

As the lead designer on the Bart Ingredients project, I saw the brand’s vibrant ingredient colours as a key creative opportunity to let the products take centre stage. I designed the store around Bart’s signature dark and black brand palette, using it as a neutral canvas to allow the rich, natural tones of the herbs and spices to stand out and create visual impact. Every page and template—across both desktop and mobile—was thoughtfully designed in collaboration with the Bart team, with a focus on guiding the customer through an immersive and intuitive journey. From layout to content structure, every element was crafted to reflect the brand’s bold identity while delivering a seamless and engaging shopping experience.

Shopify custom theme development.

After completing the full design phase for the Bart Ingredients store, I collaborated closely with our development team to bring the vision to life through a fully bespoke Shopify build. The store was developed using Shopify's Online Store 2.0 framework, ensuring Bart has full flexibility and control over content, layouts, and templates—making it easy for their team to create and manage pages with ease. We prioritised native Shopify functionality at the core of the build to ensure long-term scalability and stability. I also oversaw the integration of key features such as real-time search, advanced product filtering, and a subscription system powered by Recharge Payments, all designed to enhance user experience and drive ongoing customer engagement.
