Harbour Lifestyle launched its website in early 2020 as a UK based online retailer of high end Garden and outdoor lifestyle products. We partnered with the ambitious outdoor lifestyle brand to design, develop an launch an entirely bespoke Shopify Plus store that emobides luxury design and showcases their breathtaking range of products. The brief involved completely overhauling the visuals of the store to deliver a branded and considered customer journey whilst ensuring the products could be perceived in their absolute glory. Alongside crafting a beautiful user-interface, the store is feature rich including product compare functionality, show-home referals and geo-location for product assembly services.

UI designed to engage and convert.

As the lead designer on the Harbour Lifestyle project, I set out to create a user interface that truly reflected the elegance and craftsmanship of their luxury outdoor furniture. Collaborating closely with the Harbour Lifestyle team, I designed a completely bespoke Shopify theme from the ground up, tailored to convey a premium aesthetic while ensuring the site remained intuitive and informative. The design immerses users in rich photography and video content, while the minimalist UI and streamlined navigation reduce friction in the customer journey—minimising clicks to checkout and enhancing the overall shopping experience.

Following the design and creative phases that I led, our development team brought the vision to life by building a completely bespoke Shopify theme from scratch, using modern, forward-thinking technologies. I ensured the design was fully compatible with the latest Shopify frameworks and seamlessly integrated with leading technology partners to elevate performance and functionality. To maintain a fast, responsive experience, we implemented lazy-loading and selective page-load techniques. I also oversaw the design of a fully custom Shopify checkout, maintaining a consistent and premium brand experience throughout the entire customer journey. Additionally, we introduced bespoke features such as product comparison functionality and geo-location-based assembly add-ons—enhancing both usability and personalisation across the site.

Product discovery, built within the core.

As the lead designer on the Harbour Lifestyle project, I prioritised creating a seamless and intuitive shopping experience that made product discovery effortless. To achieve this, I collaborated with our development team to implement a custom Algolia integration that not only delivered lightning-fast search functionality, but also visually reflected the brand’s premium identity. I designed the search experience so customers receive instant, visually rich results as they type—featuring large product imagery and AI-powered suggestions that elevate usability. The bespoke filtering system I designed allows users to navigate collections quickly and intuitively, ensuring a smooth path to purchase. This project is a strong example of how thoughtful, creative design combined with technical precision can produce a high-performance ecommerce experience. I'm proud of what we achieved and excited to continue supporting Harbour Lifestyle’s digital growth.
